Welcome

Hillsboro Parent Preschool is a community that inspires children’s creativity, wonder and love of learning. In this safe, nurturing environment, preschoolers are valued and respected as they build a foundation for future learning. Children are encouraged to develop a stronger sense of self, learn problem solving skills, and build relationships. Active parent participation allows families to feel connected and valued for their capabilities and differences as they gain insight into child development, guidance, discipline, and learning styles.

Our organization is also a  member of Parent Child Preschool Organization (PCPO)-a non-profit organization of more than 60 cooperative preschools and kindergartens.

A Cooperative Preschool
In a cooperative preschool, parents and child learn side by side. The children work and play in a carefully planned, yet spontaneous environment, benefiting from contact with adults. Parents learn through observation, class participation and parent meetings to understand better growth and development of children, both individually and in a group.

Parent Involvement
HPP members believe that the family unit plays an important role in meeting the needs of our children. Each family shares in the planning and operation of our school. The effort of parents and their direct involvement in their child's education makes HPP a unique educational experience. Three parents assist the teacher each day in the classroom as “parent-teachers”.  Each family holds a job and works on a committee or serves on the board of directors. We also ask all our families to make a commitment to our fundraising efforts. One year of membership can result in rich new understanding, wide learning, new friendships and best of all, knowing that your child is learning through cooperative work and play.

**Membership shall be available without regard to race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or ability.

Waiting list is open for the 2012-2015 school years.
